Kilim Rugs...just a little history. The main characteristic of the kilim rugs is that they haven't been knotted like the traditional Persian rugs, but they have been simply weaved.
Therefore they are a smoother carpet without introducing the classical fleece.
In the origins, the kilims were not only used as rugs, but also as bags for carrying personal belongings such as clothing, food or anything that could be useful for the preparation of nomadic camps.

Kilim Carpets

In their tents or houses, the Kilim carpets were used to separate living areas of the house such as the men's area from the women’s area. They were also used as tablecloths and also as praying carpets.
The variety of uses of the Kilims displays the importance of the history of the carpet, which was unknown in Occident up to few years ago, but as soon as they have been known, the traditional kilims have reached a huge success so that they have been sold out very quickly.
In view of the popularity and the consents that the kilim rugs received, today the kilims are produced massively by trying to reproduce the motives, the colours, the techniques of weaving loom.
